How do you define wellbeing, healing, empowerment, purpose?
The world, as we experience it, is imperfect. Change is our ever-constant, uncertainty our constant companion. We often barely know ourselves, let alone one another. At times, it seems as if everything is against you. Purpose, place, and potential feel elusive and just out of reach. If you could just find the key, the formula, the catalyst that moves you in the right direction. If you could just find the stream, the path, the way—then everything would click into place. The right direction would appear, stark as daylight. Many of us are bound up in patterns and ways of seeing ourselves and the world. We seek balance and wholeness, but the right path can be elusive. I serve as a helper, teacher, guide, and healer for clients who decide that counseling is the best way forward.
I am a Resident at Artisan Counseling supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My therapeutic approach is humanistic and integrative. In my toolkit are the following modalities: Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, acknowledging that time is limited. You need solutions, and we will uncover them. Narrative Therapy, recognizing that we are the authors of our own lives. Existential Therapy, appreciating the meaning and value clients assign to their experiences and perspectives, even amidst chaos and uncertainty. Relational-Cultural Therapy, focusing on the interrelations that shape our social behaviors and environments. Sometimes, you’re right: there are systems holding you down.
For those clients for whom spirituality and belief are important, I also offer psychospiritual therapies ranging from mindfulness to prayer and ceremony. As a former teacher of 20 years and now a counselor, I know how to provide a safe space for inner work and exploration. I never forgot how it felt to be a student myself, and I learned as much from my students as I trust they learned from me. As a therapist, I will learn from you. We will map your mindscape together and discover the trails that lead to becoming. All my experience and knowledge will be available to you.
