Anxiety and depression can wear you down slowly: racing thoughts at night, dread before work, or a low mood that makes everything feel harder. At our Newport News office on Jefferson Avenue, licensed counselors help you understand what is driving it and build practical ways to feel more like yourself. The office has direct access from I-64 and is a practical drive from Hampton, Yorktown, Poquoson and Williamsburg.
You can meet in person in Newport News or by secure telehealth anywhere in Virginia. For more about symptoms and treatment, see our main Anxiety & Depression Counseling page.
Many Newport News clients are juggling shift work at the Shipyard, military deployments and moves, school pressure or more than one job. That kind of steady strain can turn into anxiety that will not switch off, or into depression that shows up as exhaustion, irritability or losing interest in things you used to enjoy.
Anxiety often looks like constant worry, a racing mind, tension, trouble sleeping or panic attacks. Depression often looks like sadness or emptiness, low energy, changes in sleep or appetite, and pulling away from people. Many people have some of both.
If either is getting in the way of work, sleep or relationships, it is a good time to talk with someone. In crisis? Call or text 988, or call 911 in an emergency.
