At Artisan Counseling, our work doesn’t stop at the office door. Our counselors are proud to show up for the Hampton Roads community, supporting local causes that raise awareness, reduce stigma, and expand access to mental health care.
Out of the Darkness Walk 2026: Top Fundraising Team

October 10, 2026 | Buckroe Beach Park, Hampton, VA
Our team joined more than 440 walkers at the Virginia Peninsula Out of the Darkness Walk, hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The “In Honor of Nancy Smith” team, led by Abby Brundage, LCSW, raised $2,430.31, the most of all 67 participating teams, to bring more suicide prevention resources to Hampton Roads.
Why We Give Back
Mental health care works best when communities talk about it openly. By supporting events like suicide prevention walks, awareness campaigns, and local outreach, we help more people in Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk, and the surrounding areas know that support is available and that asking for help is a sign of strength.
